You Love Argan Oil, Right?
{Argan oil is derived from the nuts of Argania spinosa, a native desert tree in Morocco. In other words, the fruit of this tree, often called "argan nuts," are tree nuts.}
Often referred to as "liquid gold," it wouldn't be a stretch to say that argan oil is like the kale of plant oils.
There's no question that argan oil pulls its own weight and then some. But when we make claims like "this is a miracle oil!" — what are we really saying? Let's take a closer look at why argan oil is so great and what it actually does for us.
-
Double Duty. It contains 620mg of tocopherols — that's Vitamin E, folks. And to give you a better sense of what that means, that's twice the amount of Vitamin E found in our beloved olive oil.
-
You Say "Omega." We Say, "Lots of Omegas!" Argan oil is very high in Omega-6 fatty acids and linoleic acid, all of which delivers anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, antioxidant, and moisturizing properties to the skin. It also contains Omega-9 unsaturated fatty acids and Vitamin A. Together, these two help promote the skin's immunity as well as stimulate hair and nail growth.
-
Got Me Feelin' Like I'm 22. While we can thank Taylor Swift for that lyric, we have argan oil to thank for the way our skin looks (and feels) softer and younger. How exactly? The unique combination of antioxidant and moisturizing properties help to maintain skin elasticity, prevent moisture loss, limit the appearance of stretch marks, under-eye circles, burns, wrinkles, as well as damage from smoking, pollution, and the sun.
-
No Grease. Argan oil helps to regulate sebum, which allows the skin to breathe easy and, oh yeah, it won't make you look greasy! That's not all, though. Argan oil also finds time to manage the body's pH level so the skin is less likely to be irritated. Win-win.
- Superhero by Day. Superhero by Night. As if it wasn't already obvious how much of a multi-tasker argan oil is, we'll spell it out even more. Argan oil helps prevent frizz and split ends, strengthens strands by improving the hair's protein structures, improves brittle nails, soothes arthritic pain, and can improve triglyceride levels to help ward off cardiovascular disease.
